Bodycam Shows Ohio Police's Wild Walmart Chase for Murder Suspect
Cleveland police tracked down a murder suspect to a Walmart location, and officers had to race through the store's aisles to catch the fleeing woman.
The crazy chase, which was caught on an officer's body camera, happened Aug. 14 when police caught up with Shanaja Jones at the retail store, WJW-TV reports. Jones was wanted in connection with a June shooting that left one person dead and another wounded.
Inside the store, officers confronted Jones, who quickly dashed down aisles to try to escape her pursuer. Body camera footage shows Jones and officers racing around the store until she was finally apprehended by police.
Detectives had located Jones after receiving a report that she and Robinson had been at the store multiple times to allegedly intimidate a relative of one of the victims in the June shooting.
Officers also arrested a man with Jones, identified as Walter Robinson Jr. Once he was taken into custody, Robinson was asked why he fled.
"Cause she was running," he said. "They was chasing her."
"That’s not how it works, buddy," an officer replied.
Jones was indicted on murder and felony assault charges. She and Robinson also were indicted on stalking and obstruction charges stemming from the Walmart incident.
